Zohan (Adam Sandler) is an ace counter-terrorist soldier in the Israeli military. He is tried of the fighting and fakes his
own death to follow his dream of becoming a hair stylist in New York. First he doesn't find it easy and then he gets his
chance. He finds love with a Palestinian woman Dalia (Emmanuelle Chriqui) who owns the hair salon. However, the landlord
of the buildings in the are wants to run everyone out by any means to make way for his new mall and Zohan may not be able
to escape his past if people recognize who he is.
YOU DON'T MESS WITH THE ZOHAN is an absurdly over-the-top comedy. The story isn't good, but the humor is what sells the film
even when it's really bad that it's funny. Any good hair salon would have never hired Zohan or fired him for a small amount
of things he does like banging clients in the back room after cutting their hair. Zohan is an over-sexed hair stylist. Women
love him for it (read middle-aged women). The message of the film seems to be that you can go for your dreams and get together
once you go to America and away from the middle east conflicts that have been going on for 2000 years. The film does make
fun of the conflict. Famous hair stylist Paul Mitchell (and his salon) and singer Mariah Carey even make appearances. The
film plays everything for laughs from characters doing the disco dance, the hackey sack with the cat scene, and featuring
music from the 1990s. If you're a fan of stupid comedies or ones that don't have smart humor, YOU DON'T MESS WITH THE ZOHAN
is one for you. Don't tax your brain too much and sit back to enjoy the absurd nature of the Zohan.
