2009 MOVIE PREVIEW Part 1

The first of many articles covering the films of 2009, I have decided to focus a little bit on the remakes and sequels
coming out this year. The second article will be on sci-fi and horor films. Stay tuned as each article in the
2009 Movie Preview are subject to added titles, new details, and release date changes.
REMAKES:
MY BLOODY VALENTINE 3D (Jan 16)- the best looking of the horror remakes.
FRIDAY THE 13TH (Feb 13)- I don't know about this one since I'm not a big Jason fan.
RACE TO WITH MOUNTAIN (March 13)
STATE OF PLAY (April 17)- a remake of the British TV mini-series
THE LAND OF THE LOST (June 5)
THE TAKING OF PELHAM 1 2 3 (June 12)- Tony Scott directs John Travolta vs. Denzel Washingston in this remake
FAME (Sept 25)- pointless remake
THE STEPFATHER (October 16)- just won't be the same without Terry O'Quinn playing this character
THE WOLFMAN (Nov 6)
SHERLOCK HOLMES (Nov 21)- Robert Downey Jr. plays holmes in this new take on the famous literary character . directed by
Guy Ritchie
BAD LIEUTENANT: PORT OF CALL NEW ORLEANS- Nic Cage stars in this reimagining of the Abel Ferrara film by director Werner
Herzog.
THE LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT- remake of an old Wes Craven film.
SEQUELS and PREQUELS:
UNDERWORLD: RISE OF THE LYCANS (Jan 23)- this prequel is centuries in the past as you finally see the full events of how the
war between vamps and werewolves began.
THE PINK PANTER 2 (Feb 5)
FAST AND FURIOUS (April 3)- Vin Diesel, Jordana Brewster, and Paul Walker reuinte for the fourth in the series.
CRANK: HIGH VOLTAGE (April 17)- this time Jason Statham's character has his heart stolen and he must recharge his artifical
heart.
X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE (May 1)- Hugh Jackamn stars in this origin story of Logan aka Wolverine.
STAR TREK (May 8)- how Kirk and the crew got together on the Enterprise. from J.J. Abrams.
ANGELS AND DEMONS (May 15)- Tom Hanks is back as Professor Langdon in a film that is raising protests from the Catholic Church.
NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM: BATTLE OF THE SMITHSONIAN (May 22)
TRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN (June 26)
ICE AGE: DAWN OF THE DINOSAURS (July 1)
HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE (July 17)- the long delayed Harry Potter film finally comes out after Warner Bros.
bumped it from it's November slot.
FINAL DESTINATION: DEAtH TRIP 3D (August 21)
H2 (August 28)- Rob Zombie is back to direct a sequel to his remake of HALLOWEEN.
NEW MOON (Nov)- The sequel to TWILIGHT.
