TRANSPORTER 3 is better than
TRASNPORTER 2. IT is less over-the-top than the second one. Still I wish there was a bad guy as great as the slutty psychotic
blond from TRANSPORTER 2. I have seen another film by director Olivier Megaton. The quick editing loses some of the focus
Megaton's direction had in one of his previous films, RED SIREN. Natalya Rudakova is the latest sexy Russian/ east European
model wanting to be an actress (actually she was a New York hair stylist discovered by Luc Besson while he was out walking
NYC) while Robert Knepper gnaws at another bad guy role (I fear he is getting typecast since he was cast as T-Bag in PRISON
BREAK). Jason Statham slides through the movie with his usual skill.
Jason is back as Frank as he is forced into another
Trasporter job by the bad guy (Knepper) as Frank must transport Valentina (Rudakova). They are both wired with matching bracelets
that will blow if they travel too far from Frank's car. The bad guy is trying to force Valentina's father to sign an agreement
with a big company who wants to violate enviromental regulations as they're transporting toxic waste.
TRASNPORTER 3
is entertaining and yet I wonder if they could have done more by upping the action even more. Luc Besson helps to write another
ijnstallment (how I miss him not directing movies). Jason Statham seems to do no wrong no matter how good or bad the film
is (he survived IN THE NAME OF THE KING). Besson and his writing parter Robert Mark Kamen add some humor while finding a way
to get Frank involved once again. I just hope there isn't a TRANSPORTER 4. Besson needs to find another character for Statham
to play besides Frank. I just now wonder what Natalya Rudakova will do next.
SPECIAL FEATURES:
Director Oliver Megaton delivers the feature audio commentary in addition to providing audio commentary for three brief
behind-the-scenes featurettes: STORYBOARD COMPARISONS (for the opening car chase), VISUAL EFFECTS (for the climax), and SET
DESIGN (before and after of two sets in the film- Frank's house and the interior of a train car).
MAKING OF TRANSPORTER 3 is an interesting 16 minute behind-the-scenes featurette that provides a look at the stunts, effects,
and more. Interviews aith Jason Statham, Natalya (Sasha) Rudakova, Robert Knepper, and director Megaton. Rounding out the
extras are the original theatrical trailer, a featurette on real-life Transporters and how the movies take artistic license
(SPECIAL DELIVERY: TRANSPORTER IN THE REAL WORLD), and previews for other Lionsgate films (including CRANK 2).
FINAL ANALYSIS: If you love Jason Statham movies or seen the first two TRANSPORTER films, TRANSPORTER 3 is
the one for you. Also check out RED SIREN (another film by director Oliver Megaton) if you haven't seen it.
