THINGS WE LOST IN THE FIRE revolves around Audrey (Halle Berry) who takes in her husband's best friend Jerry ( Benicio Del Toro) after her husbnad Brian Burke (David Duchovny) is murdered. Jerry fights with his heroin addiction and starts to attend NA meetings. He becomes friends to Audrey's two children, Dory and Harper. Jerry starts to find hope only to find Audrey is holding in her grief and she starts to clash with Jerry as he tries to turn his life around after the only one (Brian) that never gave up on him was killed. This moving tale is directed by Susanne Bier. The performances by Berry and Del Toro make the tale sparkle with deep and sometimes hidden emotion.

SPECIAL FEATURES: A DISCUSSION ABOUT THINGS WE LOST IN THE FIRE is a featurette that tells why the director and actors where drawn to do the movie, Halle Berry's acting in the film, and how Susanne Bier directs. The 7 deleted scenes gives more background into the characters. Rounding out the extras are the original theatrical trailer and previews for other releases.

FINAL ANALYSIS: THINGS WE LOST IN THE FIRE is a very human film where you can relate to the problems and turmoil of the characters. The story and emotion sticks with you. Too bad they didn't record an audio commentary for this film.
