THE KILLING GENE is gritty and gruesome. The High Definition video adds a gritty quality to the film. New York City police detectives try to stop a killer's spree. The killer gives a person a choice- be killed to save your loved one or kill your loved one. Detective Eddie Argo (Stellan Skarsgard) and his rookie partner Helen (Melissa George in a good acting role for once) find it all connects to a case that Eddie worked on. Helen wants to bust the balls of the cops involved on the case. The only problem with the film is that most of the victims are bad people. THE KILLING GENE might have been more daring if it was someone out to prove something and not just use it because the killer is suffering from pyshcological trauma. Just wait until you see the performance that Selma Blair gives.

SPECIAL FEATURES:
Three deleted scenes are on the disc and I wish the bar scene remained in the film.

THE MAKING OF THE KILLING GENE is an under 20 minute making of featurette that reveals that most of the film was filmed in Belfast, Ireland (while taking place in New York City) and one of the actors was delayed from getting into the USA when they were set to film in NYC.

The TORTURE featurette shows the filming of the torture scenes. Also included on the disc are the original theatrical trailer and an In-Depth Interview with Director Tom Shankland, Writer Clive Bradley, and a Producer.

FINAL ANALYSIS: THE KILLING GENE is an excellent thriller for anyone who loved SE7EN. The HD Video adds to teh gritty look of this thriller with a fantastic cast.
