STRANGE WILDERNESS is a comedy that is worse that I thought it would be. Despite many funny moments (like a few dick jokes including a man called Dick), it felt like my IQ dropped after watching it. In the age of Real World, Big Brother, and Jackass, STRANGE WILDERNESS is a wildlife show that probably would get on the air. Peter Gaulke (Steve Zahn) is a dim-witted host of a wildlife show he continued after his father's death. His father carried the show with intelligence where his son Peter doesn't have a clue. The show Strange Wilderness is two weeks from being canceled when an old friend of Peter's father shows up with a map to Bigfoot's cave. The guy wants money for the map and thus begins a series of misadventures for the Strange Wilderness crew and their host. A hot blond (Ashley Scott) tags along for the ride. They make their way through Mexico and finally to South America. Unfortunately, the characters and script make me wish Bigfoot had kicked the hell out of every character in this movie. Robert Patrick oddly enough survives intact as one of the best characters despite it being a small role. I just wonder if the actors all lost a bet and had to make this film. I just don't get how this bad of a script could be made into a film.

SPECIAL FEATURES: The 22 minutes of deleted scenes (13 of them) features some stuff thankfully cut and some material (like the interview stuff) that should have been left in.

COOKER'S SONG goes behind-the-scenes of filming that scene.
THE TURKEY looks at the fake stunt turkey created by Almost Human.
WHAT DO WE DO? looks at all the improv the actors go through in one scene.
REEL COMEDY: STRANGE WILDERNESS features the director and cast being interviewed.

FINAL ANALYSIS: Avoid STRANGE WILDERNESS. I wish Bigfoot would have got the smackdown on the dummies in the film. STRANGE WILDERNESS is a turkey (and those who watched the film will also know about the turkey in the film).
