PLOTS SYNOPSIS: Sisters Mary and Anne Boleyn become rivals for the affection for King Henry Tudor. This is the stiry of their relationship with Henry and their lives.

ANALYSIS:
THE OTHER BOLEYN GIRL holds no candle to THE TUDORS TV series. The casting and writing in that series blows THE OTHER BOLEYN GIRL back into the dark ages. Natalie Portman is ill-cast as Anne Boleyn. Eric Bana's King Henry VIII is a nice and reluctant man. I love the arrogant reluctance of Henry in THE TURDORS more. THE OTHER BOLEYN GIRL does have some nice outdoor cinematography, a few good moments, and a great beheading by sword. The costume and production design isn't bad, but THE TUDORS still does a better job that this film. I do have a few issues with the script (like Anne being a scheming spoiled brat and the rape scene among a few things). Even a few people who have seen this film have pointed out the historical stuff the film didn't even get close to right. Cardinal Wolsey is absent from the film- only heard of by name.

So if you're waiting to fill your need for King Heny Tudor and Anne Boleyn, you might be better off watching season one of THE TUDORS on DVD and wait for season 2 to start on Showtime.
