DIRTY SEXY MONEY is funny and crazy. Nick George (Peter Krause) becomes the family lawyer to the wealthy and famous New York
City family- The Darlings. He wants to do good works, but the Darlings family dramas get in the way. Nick has to keep
the family out of trouble many times. He wants to know who killed his father. Is it Tripp Darling (Donald Sutherland) or
Tripp's rival Simon Elder (Blair Underwood)? Can Patrick keep his life private while running for US Senate and keep his transsexual
mistress Carmelita (Candis Cayne) out of the news (and his wife from finding out)? Nick also has to keep Karen Darling (Natalie
Zea) at arm's length because she is still in love with Nick after all of these years despite three marriages and that Nick
is happily married to Lisa. The Darling twins, Juliet and Jeremy, have their own dramas too as Juliet puts off a facade
and Jeremy looks for love with bad results.
DIRTY SEXY MONEY is a well crafted family drama. It's fun, sexy, and shocking at times. The cast makes this show work.
No matter how good writing is, it wouldn't work you didn't have people like Donald Sutherland, Peter Krause, or Natalie Zea
to play these fun characters even when they do things that are damaging to themselves and others. i hope Juliet's on and
off nemesis is back for more and I wonder what plan Tripp Darling has (that he's not telling Nick) for Simon Elder. Nick
and Tripp are working together to find out what Simon is up to. Also the affair between Tripp's wife and Nick's dead father
(who was murdered in a sabotaged plane) has ramifications that reveal secrets that set the stage for the end of season 1 and
the start of season 2. One of the characters I love other than Karen, Jeremy, and Juliet's nemesis is Brian Darling- a pompus
religious man. His behavior is as bad as teh rest of the family. It's fantastic to see his efforts to hide the truth about
his son Brian Jr. backfire.
SPECIAL FEATURES:
Three audio commentaries were recorded with cast crew for the PILOT, THE BRIDGE, and THE WATCH. They mention the first version
of the pilot which I wish was included on this set.
Most of the extras are on disc three which include eight deleted scenes which would make the character arcs a little more
difficult and sometimes contradict moments in the episode. In conclusion, they aren't needed. The three minute blooper reel
is crazy and funny
THE RAOD TO EXCESS: MAKING DIRTY SEXY MONEY- interviews with cast and crew (directors, writers, and producers) about the series
and characters.
ENTER THE PENTHOUSE: THE VIP SET TOUR- a look at the Darling set and the props within.
HAUTE COUTURE: DRESSING THE DARLINGS- the costumes for the characters and an interview with the costume designer.
THE OTHER WOMAN: CANDIS CAYNE- talk about Candis and teh character she plays (the transsexual mistress of Patrick Darling).
FINAL ANALYSIS: DIRTY SEXY MONEY is a funny, sexy, and intriguing show. I can't wait for season 2 because DIRTY SEXY MONEY
is addicting. Too bad they didn't include the original pilot on the set and teh featurettes were a little too much promo
fluff.
