PLOT:
Professor Wetherhold gets in accident which sends him to the hospital. He can't drive for six months due to a seizure. he finds love and his life is turned upside down when his daughter and adopted brother speak their mind.

ANALYSIS:
SMART PEOPLE is at it's best when it focuses on the characters played by Ellen Page (a 40 year old in a 17 year old's body) and Thomas Haden Church (a 17 year old in a 40 year old's body). I wish the film was more about those two than the life of self-absorbed widowed professor Lawrence Wetherhold (Dennis Quaid) and his relationship with a doctor (Sarah Jessica Parker) who is a former student of Wetherhold's.

SPECIAL FEATURES:
Director Noam Murro and Writer Mark Jude Poirer joke about making a horror film with giant ants on the audio commentary to the film.

The bloopers and outtakes aren't that funny, but the second and seventh scene of the nine deleted scenes should have been left in the film.

THE SMARTEST PEOPLE is a featurette that has interviews with cast and crew which focuses on the script, production design, and the characters.

FINAL ANALYSIS: SMART PEOPLE is an enjoyable comedy, but I wished it focused on Page and Church more who steal the movie.
