Dr. Bertham Pincus (Ricky Grevais) is a cranky Manhattan dentist who hates people. One day when he goes in for surgery, he discovers afterwards that he died for seven minutes and now he can see dead people. the problem is that the dead people won't leave him alone. The annoyed Pincus makes a deal with a smooth-talking ghost (Greg Kinnear) who cheated on his wife. He now wants Pincus to break up the relationship his widow Gwen (Tea Leoni) is having with a pompous human rights lawyer (Billy Campbell).

Ricky Grevais elevates this from what could have been a so-so romantic comedy to a film with a little bit of heart. He is the best thing about GHOST TOWN and it causes the other actors to elevate to his level. He makes the grumpy dentist who is annoyed by people very lovable. The scenes with the hospital doctor and the smiling (black) hospital lawyer also stand out. Don't get me started about the naked guy ghost.

SPECIAL FEATURES:
Rickey Grevais and writer/ director David Keopp provide an audio commentary for the film. The other extras consist of three featurettes on the making of the film:
MAKING GHOST TOWN- making of featurette that has interviews with the cast and David Keopp. Keopp wanted to focus on the romantic comedy aspects with minimum special effects (while drawing on ghost lore while adding a new one).
SOME PEOPLE CAN DO IT- gag reel
GHOSTLY EFFECTS- a look at the visual effects

FINAL ANALYSIS: GHOST TOWN is a little comedic gem due to Ricky Grevais. The extras aren't bad and it makes me wonder why Dreamworks could fit everything on one disc with this film instead of splitting the extras like they did with EAGLE EYE.
