Director Tarsem Singh has a very visual style. It started when he did music videos and his visual style he brought to THE CELL made it amazing to look at. Now Tarsem is back with a film that took four years to film (in over 24 countries) and using his own money. THE FALL takes place in 1920s Los Angeles where Alexandria, a little girl (with a broken arm), meets stunt man Roy (who has a broken heart) in a hospital. Roy tells her an amazing story about five heroes out to kill Governor Odious. The story keeps twisting and reflects the states of mind that the girl and Roy are in. More of their lives ends up more and more in the story as it goes on.

THE FALL has the same strength that THE CELL has. The visuals from the story of the heroes and the various locations used are the best part of THE FALL. The story doesn't have the biggest logic, but it's not supposed to since it is a story told to a six year old girl who also manipulates the way it is told.

SPECIAL FEATURES:
The two deleted scenes don't add much, but one does reveal a spoiler too soon in the film.

The two featurettes (WANDERLUST and NOSTALGIA) amount to about 58 overlong minutes of behind-the-scenes footage which could have been edited down by at least 20 to 30 minutes.

THE FALL has two audio commentaries (both have optional English subtitles)- one by director Tarsem and the other with actor Lee Pace and writers Dan Gilroy and Nico Soultanakis. It is amazing to hear what extras didn't make it to the DVD (additional deleted scenes for one).

FINAL ANALYSIS: THE FALL is an amazing visual independent piece of work. Too bad the extras weren't a little better.
